Alexa Web Services
So I’ve been playing with Amazon and Alexa web services for the past day or so and I thought of something while looking over the APIs. Anyone know that the Alexa web services let you see what links are coming into your website? The Alexa database giving you every link that is pointing into your website. Imagine the possibilities. Ever want to have a list of websites that you can submit to a search engine to have their spider find you on it’s own? You have one now, just use the Alexa web services. Between that and the Google Toolbar you could do a reasonable estimate of your own Page Rank. You would know a large number of the sites that link into your website, then by visiting each site with the Google toolbar installed you could get the 1 to 10 PageRank for each site. A little bit of searching on the Internet for a Page Rank calculation and a bit of time and you could see how you page ranks with others. What about linking to the sites that have a high Page Rank and that link to you? Wouldn’t that in effect make the pages that you link to increase their Page Rank and therefore, since they are linking to you, your Page Rank will go up? And you can Choose the page with a high Page Rank to insure that your Page Rank will go up more. I got a few more ideas myself, but I’m going to need a bit of time to test them ….
